Embark on an unforgettable safari tour of the second largest national park in the country and explore the sanctuary which is home to the largest number of leopards in the world. Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Negombo
Day 1

Arrival and Leisure

Upon your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be greeted by a representative of Tangerine Tours. You will then leave for your prepared hotel in Negombo. Since the long flight might have taken its toll on you by then, you’ve got the rest of the day to simply relax in the comforts available at the hotel. Negombo is a beautiful city on the western shoreline of Sri Lanka boasting fine beaches for sunbathing and water sports too!

Day 2 & 3 - Wilpattu

Into the Wilderness

With your bags packed and ready to go, your 3-hour journey will begin in the morning from Negombo. Once you arrive at your quarters for the night which happens to be a campsite stretching out into a serene paradise, you are sure to be spellbound. Leave your luggage and from here you will head out to the Wilpattu National Park. On your safari ride, experience the wonders of nature and marvel at the many species of birds, reptiles, and predators lurking among the undergrowth.

Day 4 - Sigiriya

Transfer from Wilpattu to Sigiriya

Once the wilderness of Wilpattu has made its mark in your memory, it’s time to make your way to yet another splendid city in the hills of Sri Lanka. Sigiriya is a simple 2 hours and 15-minute drive away from Wilpattu. Once you’ve checked into your hotel, you will then be visiting the sacred city of Anuradhapura to witness its hidden gems, along with a visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple and the Avukana statue of Lord Buddha.

Day 5 - Sigiriya

Discover an ancient kingdom

Once you’ve had a good night’s rest from all that exploring in Anuradhapura, rise early and enjoy a warm breakfast despite the chilly atmosphere. You will set off today to discover the archaic rock fortress, world-famous for its baffling network of ponds and gardens. Don’t forget to capture the beautiful scenery from atop the massive rock surface. Next, you will be visiting the Minneriya National Park to observe the fascinating creatures of mother nature in Sri Lanka.

Day 6 - Gal Oya

Transfer from Sigiriya to Gal Oya

Checkout of your hotel and next you will be travelling to Gal Oya which is just 45 minutes away from Sigiriya. Once you’ve arrived at the hotel and checked in, as per the plan for the day, you’ll be headed in the direction of Polonnaruwa. Being yet another ancient kingdom in the cultural circle, there is much to explore here, the best part being the preserved age-old ruins that are hundreds of years old!

Day 7 - Gal Oya

Back to nature

Relish a wonderful breakfast at your hotel before setting out once again to explore the surroundings of Gal Oya. Today, you will visit Inginiyagala National Park, it would be advisable to keep a sharp out to spot those seemingly mysterious residents of the jungle. Next, how about exploring life as it is in the village? Yes, you will be taking a relaxed and interesting stroll through the village.

Day 8 - Gal Oya

Adventure in the mountains

Rise early and prepare for a thrilling day outdoors in the rugged mountains. Today, you will be on a trekking trip at popular sites in and around the area of Gal Oya. Break a sweat as you embark on an amazing adventure through the forests and experience nature for what it truly is on this tropical island of Sri Lanka.

Day 9 - Ella

Transfer from Gal Oya to Ella

Gal Oya sure was an interesting place to visit and experience indeed. But now it is time to leave and set off to your next destination which is Ella. It is quite a long drive taking about 4 hours and 30 minutes to get there. The route nonetheless is scenic! You’ll also make a stop at the 9 Arches Bridge which boasts fantastic views of the green mountains. You will also be visiting Little Adam’s Peak with much to explore.

Day 10 - Ella

Sightsee Ella

After a comfortable night at the hotel in Ella, you will now set off to discover two other attractions. Ravana caves will be your first stop, this cave holds an important part in the history of the age-old religion of Hinduism and is also in line with many myths about the King Ravana. The place just cannot be missed. Next up on the agenda is Lipton’s Seat. Making your way through the terrace of tea and up the slope, your eyes will be greeted by the grandest sight of Ella!

Day 11 - Yala

Transfer from Ella to Yala

Day description: Max 85 words (425 characters with spaces) If the spectacular vistas of the previous day gave you pleasant dreams, who knows what exciting activity is in store for you today! Checkout of your hotel in Ella and make your way to Yala. Once arrived and settled at your hotel, set off to Buduruwagala. Here, you will see a rock surface, skilfully carved out into images of Lord Buddha. A splendid work of ancient art indeed! Next, you will be heading for more nature exploration at the Yala National Park.

Day 12 - Yala

Local sights in Yala

After a hearty breakfast, today, you will be heading closer to the shores of Hambantota. Kirinda is first on the list. Visit and explore the Kirinda Rajamaha Viharaya and maybe spend some time at the beach as well. Next, you will be visiting the Kataragama Temple. Keep in mind that this is a sacred place of much religious significance the Buddhists and Hindus alike. Witness the many crowds of pilgrims as they worship at the temple.

Day 13 - Galle

Transfer from Yala to Galle

After a short 1 hour and a 30-minute drive from Yala to Galle, check into your hotel and maybe take some time to unwind and relax. The best part about Galle begins in the evening and that’s why you’ll be heading to the Galle Fort just before dusk. Soak in the hypnotic view of the sunset from a comfortable spot on the huge fort and feel a wave of tranquillity wash over your soul.

Off to visit the giants of the ocean

Have a quick bite to eat in the morning and set course towards Mirissa. Today, you’ll be going to see the gentle giants of the ocean! Whale watching in Mirissa is enjoyed by many as the sight is so unusual for beings from land. If you are lucky enough, you may even spot a few friendly dolphins putting on a show.

Day 15 - Bandaranaike International Airport

Transfer from Galle to Bandaranaike International Airport

As all good things come to an end, so does your holiday in Sri Lanka. It’s time to bid farewell to this tropical island and go back home. A representative from Tangerine Tours will pick you up from the hotel and you will be dropped at the airport for your flight. We hope you enjoyed your tour with us and hope to see you again.
