This tour gives you the chance to visit some of the most popular destinations in the glorious island of Sri Lanka. You will visit many prominent sites of cultural and historic significance and enjoy blissfully tropical thrills at the many famed beaches of the country. Famous tourist attractions in the eastern coast of the island such as Pasikuda beach, Koneswaram Temple and Pigeon Island will be extensively covered during your stay. You will be spending a total of 12 nights and 13 days in the country when you book this exciting tour. A perfect cultural experience is always guaranteed in the stunning paradise island of Sri Lanka. You will be arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. A representative of Tangerine Tours will meet and greet you there. You will then be transferred to your hotel in the capital city of Colombo. It will take approximately 40 minutes to reach Colombo from the airport. Upon arrival, unpack your bags and spend the day relaxing or exploring the stunning appeals of Colombo. You can enjoy a delightful city tour and visit the famous Galle Face Green within the day.
Day 2 - Nuwara Eliya
Transfer from Colombo to Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast, prepare for your long journey to the Hill Country of Sri Lanka. The city of Nuwara Eliya, which is located 160 kilometres from Colombo is the where you will be spending the night. A journey of approximately six hours will bring you to the glorious, misty terrains of this city. Today you will embark on a city tour, visit tea factories and tea plantations, waterfalls, Pidurangala Mountain as well as Horton Plains National Park, where World’s End is located.
Day 3 - Kandy
Transfer from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy
The famous city of Kandy which is located just a 2.5 hour drive from Nuwara Eliya is your next destination. You can have your breakfast and get ready for the journey. You will get the opportunity to admire some spectacular vistas of rolling hills as you drive to Kandy. Once you arrive at your hotel in the city, take some time to rest and relax. The soothing climate of the region will make it very easy for you to unwind!
Day 4 - Kandy
Today you will have the full day to explore Kandy. This iconic city was the last capital of the ancient Sinhalese kings. Remnants of its majestic past are scattered across its territories so an explorative tour will indeed be quite insightful. You will be visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic, where a relic of a tooth of Buddha is housed. Udawattakele Sanctuary and Kandy Garrison Cemetery will also be visited today. You will end the day witnessing a spectacular traditional dance performance.
Day 5 - Sigiriya
Transfer from Kandy to Sigiriya
With a delicious breakfast at the hotel you will start your exciting day. Today you will be travelling to Sigiriya. The journey from Kandy to Sigiriya will take four hours. Once you reach Sigiriya, you can rest for a few hours. You will also have the opportunity to climb the grand Sigiriya Rock Fortress today. It is a stunning fortress which was built by King Kasyapa who ruled in the island between 477- 495 CE. There site has beautiful water gardens, boulder gardens and frescoes.
Day 6 - Sigiriya
You will be able to admire the idyllic rural charm that engulfs the enchanting locale of Sigiriya today. There are plenty of stunning appeals scattered in close proximity to the town. The Polonnaruwa ancient city is a prominent site that will be explored today. You will also be taken to the Dambulla Cave Temple which is a World Heritage Site. If you are visiting during the dry season, a tour in the Minneriya National Park will also be arranged.
Day 7 - Pasikuda
Transfer from Sigiriya to Pasikuda
After breakfast, prepare to journey to the magnificent east coast of Sri Lanka. You will be travelling for approximately four hours from Sigiriya to reach the breathtaking town of Pasikuda. Upon arrival, unpack your bags and set off to the beach to admire the rich allure of this coastal region. Pasikuda boasts of one of the longest stretches of shallow reef coastlines in the world. You will be able to enjoy an idyllic time of repose upon the pristine white sands of this famous beach.
Day 8 - Pasikuda
Spend the full day drinking in the loveliness of this splendid destination. You can enjoy water sports like snorkelling and diving during the day too. The beauty of the flourishing marine life of the area richly deserves to be seen and admired! There are plenty of water sport centres in Pasikuda offering equipment and facilities to those who like to indulge in this pleasure. You can also enjoy an exhilarating cruise ride before nightfall.
Day 9 - Trincomalee
Transfer from Pasikuda to Trincomalee
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at the hotel you will travel to the city of Trincomalee which is located an hour’s drive away from Pasikuda. Trincomalee is one of the most prominent cities in the northeast coast of Sri Lanka. There are many world renowned tourist attractions that you can visit while travelling here. Take your time to rest when you reach it. The inviting beaches of the city are truly quite breathtaking so do spend a few hours idling upon the golden shores!
Day 10 - Trincomalee
Today you will get the chance to travel extensively in Trincomalee. You can visit the iconic Koneswaram Temple, which is a prominent site of worship among the Hindus in the country. Pigeon Island is yet another attraction that will be included in your exciting itinerary for the day. You can also enjoy snorkelling and scuba diving to witness the marvels of the underwater world. Embark on a whale and dolphin watching tour before retreating to the Nilaveli Beach to relax in the evening.
Day 11 - Anuradhapura
Transfer from Trincomalee to Anuradhapura
Have breakfast at the hotel and prepare to travel to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, which was the very first capital of the Sinhalese kings. The journey will take you close to three hours. Once you arrive, relax for a while and then go on and explore the city’s stunning attractions. The glorious ruins of the Sacred City of Anuradhapura will be thoroughly explored today. The Mihintale monastery, Kalawewa Tank and Aukana Buddha statue will also be visited included in your day’s travel itinerary.
Day 12 - Negombo
Transfer from Anuradhapura to Negombo
You will be travelling to the western coast of the island today. Start the day with a good breakfast and pack your bags to embark on the 3.5 hour journey to Negombo. This glitzy city is indeed a sea lover’s paradise! Golden shores of the region stretch alluringly for miles, enthralling all who visit it. After resting, prepare to explore the city’s key attractions. You can also rest upon the resort lined coast of Negombo and be refreshed by the salty breeze.
Day 13 - Bandaranaike International Airport
Negombo to Bandaranaike International Airport
You will be saying goodbye to the gorgeous paradise island of Sri Lanka today. Have a good breakfast at your hotel and spend the day idling in Negombo until it is time for your flight. We will take you to the Bandaranaike International Airport from your hotel in Negombo which will take approximately 30 minutes. We will then bid you adieu until next time!
