Tour Itinerary

Day 1 - Negombo
Day 1

Arrival and Transfer

You will arrive at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, where a representative of Tangerine Tours will welcome you. You will then be on your way to your hotel in Negombo. After arriving, get some rest. You will have a brief city tour in the latter part of the day as well. There are plenty of beach restaurants to check out and wonderful shores to laze around on in Negombo. Enjoy the unusually slow city life here before you prepare to leave for your expedition the next day.

Day 2 - Sigiriya

Transfer from Negombo to Sigiriya

Leaving early from Negombo, you will be setting off on a 3 hour and 30-minute journey to Sigirya. Once you’ve arrived and checked into your hotel here, you will be making your way to the ancient city of Anuradhapura. The city of Anuradhapura was the first Sri Lankan capital established in ancient times. During the Anuradhapura era, Buddhism was introduced to the island. Next, you’ll be visiting the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Day 3 - Sigiriya

More history and a bit of nature

As the rays of sun shines from between the mountains, another day of exploring dawns. Enjoy a delicious breakfast and gather your energy as you start your day at the Minneriya National Park. Here you will be able to observe many species of animals in their natural habitat which can be quite awe-inspiring. Afterward, you will be heading to Polonnaruwa, an ancient city full of special places to explore. Learn the stories behind them too.

Day 4 - Kandy

Transfer from Sigiriya to Kandy

Its time to leave the city of Sigirya and head in the direction of Kandy after a good night’s rest and breakfast. The travelling time will be about 2 hours and 35 minutes. On the way, visit the cave temples in Dambulla, which is a World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved cave temples in Sri Lanka. It is a marvellous site indeed. Once you reach Kandy, visit Sri Dalada Maligawa. This famous temple shelters a relic of the tooth of Buddha and is one of the most venerated sites on the island. Also, enjoy a special cultural dance show here that will surely amaze you! You will come to know more about all this after a detailed tour of the city.

Day 5 - Nuwara Eliya

Transfer from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

Its time to leave the comforts of your hotel in Kandy and make your way to the city in the mountains of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya on a 3-hour journey. Once you’ve arrived, you will be heading in the direction of Ramboda waterfall to witness this majestic beauty. You will also visit a tea factory where you will learn about how the amazing Ceylon tea you find back home is actually produced. Furthermore, you will also explore the city.

Day 6 - Nuwara Eliya

Transfer from Nuwara Eliya to Yala

From the cool chilly air of Nuwara Eliya, this morning you will be off on your way to the warm humid air of Yala in a 4-hour journey. After checking into your hotel, you will be visiting the Yala National Park. Here you will be able to catch a glimpse of animals like the sloth bear, leopard and sambar deer. Remember to be alert so that you don’t miss out on the chance to spot some rare animals here. Return to your hotel and enjoy a restful night.

Day 7 - Yala

Transfer from Yala to Galle

Wake up early the next morning and leave for Galle. The journey will be about 2 hours and 50-minutes to your hotel in Galle. Leave your luggage and set off on your voyage to witness the giant mammals of the ocean and maybe even spot a few dolphins. Head to the Turtle Hatchery afterward and see the turtles that have been saved and soon to be released at sea. If you are lucky enough, you’ll be able to send in the tiny turtles out to sea at dusk.

Day 8 - Colombo

Transfer from Galle to Colombo

Say goodbye to Galle as Colombo awaits your arrival being just a 2-hour drive away. Once you’ve got to your hotel, leave your luggage and its time to explore the city. Visit the prominent sites in Colombo city and learn some fascinating historical facts too. Make your way back to your hotel and have a good rest.

Day 9 - Bandaranaike International Airport

Transfer from Colombo to Bandaranaike International Airport

You’ve had an amazing holiday on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, but now its time to bid adieu to this fantastic paradise isle. A representative of Tangerine Tours will accompany you from the hotel to the airport in time for your flight. We hope you enjoyed your tour and hope you visit again.
