Tea Factory Hotel

The Tea Factory lies alone and unique, on the steep slopes of the tea plantations in Kandapola, in the sparsely-populated hills to the east of Nuwara Eliya. It was once exactly as it claims: a tea factory built in the 1930s by British planters. Its 57 Deluxe and Standard rooms offer wall-to-wall carpeting, heating, satellite TV, telephone, and ensuite bathroom with bath and h/w showers. There is also in-room dining and a fine selection of in-room teas - a rarity these days. The rooms open out to beautiful views of the tea estate and the surrounding village. Grand Hotel

There are 156 rooms including - Standard and Deluxe Rooms and three Presidential Suites with some overlooking well laid out, award-winning gardens. The Governor's Wing rooms are furnished with colonial-period antiques including twin or double beds, with soft furnishings in paisley prints. The newer golf wing rooms are furnished in slightly more modern fashion and overlook the picturesque Nuwara Eliya golf course. All rooms have ceiling fans, and most have fireplaces although these days an electric heater is lit in its place on a cold night. The ensuite bathrooms have baths and h/w showers. The 65 Deluxe Rooms also include TV with local channels and minibar.

St.Andrews Hotel

St. Andrew’s has 52 rooms located in the Golf Wing and Nuwara Eliya wing. There are 40 Standard Rooms, seven Family Rooms and five Suites all of which are comfortably furnished and have ensuite bathrooms with h/w showers and heaters on request. The spacious Suites and Family Rooms are furnished with antique period furniture and are equipped with telephone, TV, mini bar and bathrooms with baths and h/w showers. The room upgrades to a Suite option, is reasonably priced and well-worth considering. Each room offers a view of the distant mountains and lush vegetation-clad hills.
