Friendly Traveller Advice

Beginning our services in the year 1982, we have been able to come a long way and thus, Tangerine Tours has become a pioneer in the industry today. When it comes to destination management, we cater to a clientele from across the globe. As a recognized tour agent in Sri Lanka, travel advice is what we give best through services such as ticket & accommodation bookings, transport services and much more. Here are some facts that you ought to know before arriving in Sri Lanka.

Currency
For those bringing in more than US$10,000, the amount must be claimed at the Customs office. Also, once the amount has been obtained, make sure to get it exchanged at a well-reputed bank for the best rate.

Dress Code
In terms of dress code, casuals such as shorts, and sleeveless tops can be worn. However, this is a taboo when visiting religious sites of interest. It is advisable to pack some warm clothes if you plan to visit places like Nuwara Eliya in the hill country as temperatures can drop as low as 10ºC.

Cuisine
When it comes to Sri Lankan food, the dishes are flavourful, but you must be warned that our local delicacies can be very spicy too. Keep in mind that it is better to eat from a restaurant of repute than wayside eateries.

Bookings
If you plan on visiting Sri Lanka from December to March or July and August, it is always better to make a hotel booking at the earliest. Since this is the peak season, accommodation close to major tourist attractions are almost usually fully booked.
When planning your trip, make sure to opt for trustworthy travel agents and beware of illegal companies. A trustworthy, reputable travel agent will always create an itinerary worth your money and time
